FED: Govt to consider 'technical' amendments to new IR laws
The Rudd government will consider changing its new industrial relations laws after
examining submissions to a Senate inquiry into the Fair Work Bill.
So far there's been 146 submissions to the inquiry after hearings were held in Brisbane
.. Adelaide and Perth last week .. further hearings will be held in other capital cities
later this month.
Workplace Relations Minister JULIA GILLARD says Labor will consider strengthening workers'
termination rights and enhancing privacy protections to information collected under the
right of entry.
Ms GILLARD says the amendments would ensure the bill is drafted to the best possible standard.
The Senate committee's final report is to be tabled on February 27.
